It's hard to wrap your head around the fact that there is a continent far away from America where people do not have the sacred privilege of turning on a faucet tap in their homes to obtain one of the most basic commodities in life, which is water. There's an old adage that says "if water be the food of life, let it flow." The adage does not apply in parts of Kenya in Africa and other African villages and towns. Privileged Western nations such as America engage in donations that help to bring water and other necessities to villages and towns in Kenya. Tainted Water Is The Only Choice

Can you imagine that Kenyan children must hustle over with pots and pans to collect drinking water from dirty ponds? Then there's the issue of needing to use toilets, but there's no door on the stalls to offer privacy and no water for flushing toilets or to wash their hands thereafter.

Water-Borne Disease

The unsanitary conditions cause many Kenyan school children to use open fields instead of toilets. It's no surprise that they often become ill at times due to water-borne diseases that they contract because of drinking and washing with dirty water. When the girls have their monthly menstruation periods, they stay away from school for lack of privacy and products needed to stem their menstrual flow.

Kids From America Send Help

When school children in North Carolina, Colorado, and Texas learned about these conditions affecting one school in Kenya, in 2016, they decided to make a difference in the lives of these children. Their school worked with an Aid For Africa member to get supplies to the Kenyan children. They helped to improve the overall unhealthy conditions other children in this part of the world were experiencing.

Connect with Aid For Africa about the organization's education of girls and women program, which is its key objective. Many girls have accessed elementary, high school and college education through the efforts of this organization. It has been reported that when the girls receive an education and begin to earn an income, they spend much of their income on helping their families.
